“Roadrash GT” By BIGWORDS, 1/8th scale GT class 100MPH+ RC Supercar Scratch-built on the Traxxas Rustler Slash Platform.
For a while now we’ve been watching with awe as a bunch of people on YouTube have built and successfully tested Rustlers at over 100MPH. Well, we couldn’t let them have all the fun, now could we? Wouldn’t be prudent.
We set out to build our own 100MPH+ GT Style 1/8th scale speed runner, and we decided to stick with the general program and start with the Traxxas Rustler Slash platform. However, we decided that instead of just making a barebones Rusty go really fast, we’d build what we consider to be the ultimate speed run vehicle, and hopefully 1/8 scale on-road GT competitor at some point, too.
To that end we’ve selected parts one at a time, solely with the goal of reaching over 100MPH while remaining as orange as possible. We aren’t trying to build the cheapest 100MPH speed run vehicle (maybe another time), but we are highlighting that whatever you buy, you will find it cheapest on BIGWORDS. So yeah, we didn’t have to spend $90 on an orange anodized all aluminum chassis by Xtreme Racing but hey, it keeps the CG low, looks dead sexy, and retail on that thing is $140 so BIGWORDS wins again.
This will be a video series: Intro, Chassis/Suspension, Motor/Gearing, Electronics, Painting, Tuning, and then drag racing a very special 1/1th scale electric supercar.
